Welcome on board of our coaches!

You are interested on a tour with Joost´s Ostsee-Express ? Then we would like to give you some information about our coaches, their equipment and seating plans starting with some general issues.

Since the foundation of our company in 1990, the safety of our passengers is our highest priority. A modern fleet – all vehicles are on average only 2 ½ years old – is the basis for that goal. The equipment of our coaches with all required safety features is self-explanatory: Anti-lock brake system, traction control system, retarder as a second additional brake system and seat belts on every seat are standard equipment in our coaches. The latter was already realized in 1995 – long before it became mandatory by the government. Our coaches of the series Travego, Tourismo as well as the small VIP Sprinter all dispose of an electronic stabilization program and thus increase the level of safety for our passengers.

In the transport business, a modern fleet has become essential also for another reason: In several cities in Germany and abroad, the government established so-called “Umweltzonen”,  environmentally delicate zones where traffic and access of vehicles not meeting the emission standards are limited. Since all of our coaches meet the necessary emission standards “Euro 3” respectively “Euro 4”, there are no restrictions concerning a destination if you choose to travel with Joost’s Ostsee-Express.

Since 2004 our touring coaches are classified by the “Gütegemeinschaft Buskomfort e.V. (GBK)”, an independent association that inspects and assesses vehicles. At present, Joost’s Ostsee-Express is the only company in the north of Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania that undergoes this examination and can proudly label its coaches 4-star and 5-star quality.

Our vehicles are regularly maintained in our own in-house garage with its own master mechanic. Our depot further disposes of a gas station, a car wash and a brake test bench that allows us to check the braking system of our coaches in addition to governmental provisions.
Of course our coaches are equally subject to the strict regulations in the area of passenger transportation: Five times a year the DEKRA (department of vehicles) inspects all coaches on the depot (1 main inspection and 4 special inspections).

The compliance with statuary provisions concerning driving- and rest periods is another important priority at Joost’s Ostsee-Express. On long-haul trips, a second driver is on board at departure and arrival or even during the entire trip. Since these regulations already have to be considered when creating your quote, our employees might ask you for further details concerning travel dates and itinerary. In order to let your trip start on time and to ensure that your coach is available, we developed our own computerized registration system that ensures that all coaches leave and arrive at their destination in a timely manner.

All of our drivers are permanently employed and mostly work since many years for Joost’s Ostsee-Express. All drivers attended a safe driving training in March 2005 and 2008 in the ADAC center in Linthe close to Berlin. During two days our drivers were trained in 5 respectively 6 different types of busses in order to improve their reactions in extreme and unforeseen situations. Most of our drivers were already familiar with the training session as they attended the training on the famous “Hockenheimring” in the past years. To our knowledge we are the only coach operator offering its drivers such a comprehensive formation in safe driving. Joost’s Ostsee-Express thus already complies with the governmental save driving regulations that become mandatory in 2012.

We hope we could convince you of the quality and safety of our coaches. We would be glad to handle your request and give you a detailed quote for your personal travel plans. We are looking forward to hearing from you and having you on board of Joost’s Ostsee-Express!
